GUIDELINES for U-8 & U-10

U-08 FIELD & GOAL DIMENSIONS:

                Field – 30 to 40 yards wide by 40 to 50 yards long

            Goals – 4 to 6 feet high by 8 to 12 feet wide

            Penalty Area – 10 yards by 12 yards

U-10 FIELD & GOAL DIMENSIONS:

                Field – 40 to 50 yards wide by 60 to 70 yards long

            Goals – 4 to 7 feet high by 8 to 18 feet wide

            Penalty Area – 10 yards by 12 yards

PLAYING RULES: (No Deviations – No Exceptions)

                Ball Size: Size #4 soccer ball for U10's, #3 for U8's.

            Number of Players: 7 v 7, with one being a goalkeeper

            Referees: Home team supplies – may not be a coach or assistant coach

            Length of Game: Two (2) twenty-five (25) minute halves – 5 minute half-time interval

            FIFA Rules apply to all games…    (with the following exceptions)

Offside: No offsides in U-08 or U-10… continuous offenders are to be instructed by the

            coaches.   Coaches are asked to teach and instruct players in regards to the offsides rule.

No Penalty Kicks: If a foul is committed in the penalty area, the ball will be placed at the

top of   the penalty area, straight out from where the foul was committed and shall be indirect.

Substitutions: As per the by-law book, a coach must signal a substitution request to the

referee.   The referee must grant permission for the player to enter the field.   Players must leave and enter the field at mid-field.

Throw-In – U-08: If a player commits a foul throw, the player will be allowed to take a

re-throw.   The referee should explain to the player the reason for the foul throw.   If the re-throw is foul, the opposing team will receive the throw-in.

Coaches: Are not permitted on the field during the game.   Coaches may schedule additional

            games if they desire to play some weeknights.
